How to Style Boots This Winter

Boots are the hardest-working shoes of the season. The right pair keeps you warm and dry and finishes an outfit. Here's how to style the three main boot shapes with dresses, skirts and trousers.

Ankle boots: the everyday choice

If you only buy one pair this winter, make it an ankle boot with a low block heel. It's comfortable for walking and works with almost everything.

• With dresses: the ankle boot's natural partner is a midi dress. Leave a little leg showing between the hem and the boot, or wear opaque tights in the same colour as the boot for a long, seamless line.
